Ooook…. So this blogging thing kinda didnt get off to a lekker start. So i’m going yo try again. Writing chemistry tomorrow, organic chemistry halogenoalkanes and alcholos yah!

My First Game

I only recently started to learn Java and my programming skills are still pretty much a work in progress.

But after reading this article and playing around with sclick and eclipse I decided to give it a try and make a game of some sort.

I didnt really plan the thing or anything i just started, first just moving a “player” around, then I tried to make it shoot something, which i sorta managed to do… but that didn’t work out as i planed.

I then got this idea for a realy dumb game… Your objective is to see for how long you can keep on going.. You have fuel that you use up as you move, thus you chase after fuel pretty much the whole time hehe. I plan to add to it and make it a bit more interesting and fun as the only “twist” is you have a 5% chance to spawn a thing that makes you move faster. I dont have a name for it yet. Any suggestions?

I dont mind sharing the source code if there is any interest. But I would like some suggestions and possibly fixes or sample code or something in that line to help improve my programming skill and/or logic.

Why was Japan’s March 11 earthquake so big?

Below are some more facts and figures relating to the causes and consequences of the world’s fifth-largest earthquake since 1900.

Magnitude, according to USGS: 9.0

Speed at which the Pacific Plate is smashing into the Japanese island arc: 6 centimeters (3.5 inches) per year

Speed at which the San Andreas Fault in California is slipping: about 4 centimeters per year

Size of the rupture along the boundary between the Pacific and North America plates: 290 kilometers ( 180 miles) long, 80 kilometers (50 miles) across

Approximate length of Honshu island: 1,300 kilometers

Years since an earthquake of this magnitude has hit the plate boundary of Japan: 1,200
